What is this New Asset Class?

The supreme court case of Grigsby v. Russell (1911) established that life insurance holds all the characteristics of personal property, including the right to sell or transfer that property to another. This ruling marked the birth of the secondary market for life insurance, where policies can be purchased at a discount of the face value, thus making the policy holder the new contractual beneficiary upon maturity.
